I just hooked up a winch and I was wondering if this is overkill or a god idea? I have direct ground to the battery hooked up also. What kind did you guys go with also? I see the marine grade type on ebay and stuff but I am not sure what amperage I can be looking at for the proper one. I am running a Ramsey RE12000 winch which can pull some serious amps. Thanks for any help!

Heres a recent thread.Personally I prefer welding connections, they are definately rated for more amps!

5-90 makes custom battery cables out of some high quality stuff. i bet he could tell you exactly what you need. i know 2 members who use his cable upgrade and they say their volt-meter is even running higher now.
here is his thread about his cables.

Check out this link for how I did a disconnect, why, and part numbers. It might be what you are looking for in the long run...way better than welding connections.

I use the warn power interupt kit, which is a basically another solenoid that is switched.... I had no need for my winch to get power all the time since I dd my rig.
