Fuel Cell in 2000 XJ?

Ok, I've searched several places and still have a few questions.

1. I've read that I would need a fuel rail from a pre-1996 4.0 liter, since they had the return coming off of it?

2. I've also seen the part from Russell Performance that can adapt a -6AN fitting to the 5/16" hard line coming off the fuel rail, but I was wondering if I could leave that alone and mount the pump behind all that so I could leave the all the Evap stuff alone?

3. I can find plenty of install threads on plumbing the fuel cell in older rigs, but have now found some of this info on doing it in a newer vehicle and am very confused. I'm just wondering the easiest way to do this and what all I will need?

Thanks.

Took a break for a while, but back to it and need some help.

Would an e-2000 pump work wit mine?
How would you recommend routing my lines for the EVAP?

I am in the process of stretching my wheel base as well. I went with a fuel cell, and just like you came up with all the same part numbers. The e2000 fuel pump will work, but it is not a self priming pump. I went with the NAPA P5000, not only is it self priming but you can get it for $120.00. Also because it is a NAPA pump you can get one almost anywhere. I also used an RCI 2172A aluminum fuel cell that is 7x17x30 with fuel sender so the gauge still works great. One thing that was important to me was to be able to fix this dam thing on the trail if I had to, so I made sure to pick parts and lines that could be easily found (ie. The NAPA pump). Now here is the part that will depend on your year and line type. I used all AN fittings they are reliable and easy to work with. For your year you have that plastic hard line, they make AN fittings for those. The big coil of hose you see at the back of my fuel cell that is my vent. It connects to the pictured K&N filter mounted under the Jeep. I have put about 3500 miles on this setup both on and offroad with no issues except one. Get some fuel cell foam and put it in the tank. Sometimes when the tank gets down to a quarter tank and you turn a corner or an off camber it will piss off the pump. Here are some pictures of my setup. I really hope this helps, PM me if you have any questions…
