3000 Prm Idle !!!!

Ok, I know the Renix system has its flaws but........

Can anyone tell me what would cause:

Cold morning (45 degrees or so) started my 89 XJ (4L) Idle settled in at 3000 PRM. Thought maybe I had a stuck throttle cable so I rev'd the engine but it settled back to 3000 rpm idle. Turned off the vehicle, re-started it, idled fine (about 900-1000) with its usual drift.

Drove it all day , with about 6 starts and stops. Idle was fine !!

So to be on the safe side, I change the MAP and the IAC.

Next morning, (you guessed it) same 3000 prm idle. Immediately turned it off, and restarted it, idle was fine all day again !

I'm thinking MPU ? Temperature sensor ? Any ideas ??

Thanks,

yep. My 90 did the same thing. Adjusted the TPS and cleaned the heck out of the throttle body and it went down alot. My exhaust manifold gasket was also messed up and that caused some idle issues.
