Update On Entertainment License Application
As many of you know, the park had to temporarily close in July because the County administration determined that we needed an Entertainment License to continue to operate the park. We have been involved with applying for and, hopefully, obtaining such a license since the beginning of July.

KY Outback Adventure Park has applied for the Entertainment License and the hearing has been scheduled for September 15th at 3:00 PM to determine if we are to receive it.

The hearing is set for September 15, 2005 at 3:00 PM at the Lewis Country Courthouse, located at 514 Second Street, Vanceburg, KY in the Fiscal Court meeting room on the third floor. If you have been to our park and would like to attend the meeting we would appreciate your support. We believe that our neighbor (the individual that would like the park shut down) will have a number of people there speaking on his behalf and against the park. If you would like to speak on behalf of the park, we ask that you contact us either by phone at 859-635-3058 or by email at [email protected] and let us know. Our attorney would like to speak with people to determine who he will be presenting as speakers.

Our one neighbor has seemingly done whatever possible to make the park look bad with the neighbors. He has reportedly misled people as to where the park was located, which resulted in them needing to turn around on a one lane county road which caused them to drive onto private property and upset landowners, directed people to drive on land he told them was public that is actually private, which again upset local property owners, and attempted to harass and intimidate people in various ways. If you have had any experiences like this with this individual, please forward some of the details along with your name, address, and telephone number by e-mail to [email protected] or by fax to 775-257-4352. This information will help us demonstrate that a lot of the "problems" were caused by outside forces looking to do the park harm.

If you cannot make the hearing but would still like to support the park you can contact the county administrators and let them know how you feel by sending them faxes, e-mails or letters. The contact information for the County Judge Executive is :

Mr. Steven Applegate
County Judge Executive, Lewis County
514 Second Street
Vanceburg, KY 41179
e-mail: [email protected]
Fax: 606-796-0822

We would like to show the County Adminstration that the off road park is good for the entire Lewis County community. Please let them know where you are from and if you frequented other local businesses when you were in town. If you send an e-mail or letter, we ask that you send us a copy for our records.

We are providing this contact information so that you can show the County Administrators your support for the off road park. Mr. Applegate is a very busy man and we ask that you please not call him directly or harass him in any way.

Lets Put This Behind US and Get Back to the Trails

Hopefully, we will receive our Entertainment License shortly and be back hitting the trails once again.

Since we had to shut down the park over July and August, the trails are a bit woolly with vegetation. If/when we receive our Entertainment License we plan on having a couple of "trail cleaning/cutting" days to help get the trails back into shape. These days will be free to all those that come and assist in clearing the trails. We'll keep you posted as to when these days are scheduled.

Hope to see you on the trails soon!

Good Luck man. Up here in NY we are always losing more trails. No one seems to want us around. Hopefully that license doesn't cost too much to obtain.
