Any suggestions for replacing the stock fuel return line for a 92 HO motor?

I melted the plastic piece between the connection by the frame rail and the metal tubing that runs along the intake manifold. The exhaust header has a crack and the engine compartment tempature got hot enough that the return line got soft enough to spring a leak with the engine at an idle.

I'm replacing the exhaust header, but I would like to upgrade the fuel line to something that has more heat resistance.

if you take out the fuel line then you can weld an AN fitting to the end in the line then use braided stainless hose to go up to the fuel rail. I am planning on the sam thing eventually. but i am going to weld an fitting onto the fuel rail as well as both hard lines. After this is done you can easily slide some heat sleeving over the line.
