Project "Skanky April" is underway...

:D

p.s. Here's the semi-finished full width 8.8

that bar running along the lower sill is to keep pet fearrets from bouncing out, huh?

8.8 good swap
what kinda load rating do you have with those springs, looks like a tow rig..
how much up travel do u got with those shocks, doesn't look like much with em mounted on the tube, are the tops in stock mounting locations as it appears (don't guess it matters much with those springs)

Nice Gil! What's the plans for a latch?

For latch duties I used...

Are you ready?

A gate latch!

and guess what?

It works!!

As far as the load rating on my springs...

I dunno... More than I care to find out...

They flex a helluva lot more than I thought they would...

My uptravel at present is limited by my fenders...

The tires do tuck in a bit tho...

the upper shock mounts are relocated rear sway bar brackets...

like many rigs...

There's about 6-10 different projects underway at once

:D

Someone else in the MWC used a gate latch and that's where the idea came from...

More interested in function and legality than looks...

obviously...

I can even carry a padlock and lock it!!!

:D

May be a stupid question, but what did you use to make the doors? Did you have to bend the tubing?

I dont have a tubing bender, so i was just thinking about making some out of some square tubing....? Might look wierd, but o well. I like the that style latch too, hard to beat the simplicity.

He said the latch is for a gate....
Do you think the rest is from much further down the isle?

oh you mean using the rear swaybar brackets as bar-pin eliminators, bolted into the stock mounting location,,,
yeah i had those also when i was runing 3" and 4.5" lifts,
but with that much lift and moving your axle mounts up then you may wanna look into how much up-travel you are actually allowing yourself w/ em mounted there (speaking of upper mounts)
a coustom mount in the form of a cross member will likely be needed to allow you to extend the shock a lil bit at normal ride height.

As someone who has ACTUALLY spent time under Gil's Jeep, I think he has solved any issue with the uptravel with the use of Cabo Eng. bumpstops.

Remember: Flex is overated.

shhhhh.... keep it down brutha...

you're gonna give away my secret locking mechanism...

:gag:

and no I did not bend the tubing...

I had a huge tree fall during the last big storm we had...

it crushed a patio swing...

Hot Damn I love a sawzall!

Now if I'd only had two patio swings, I'd be able to do the other side...

Alas this is merely a prototype...

The real ones will be made out of old exhaust pipes or chainlink fence posts...

Home Depot should sponsor Barrio Fabworks.

Damn man!! Everytime I see your stuff, it inspires me to a new level of Hick-ness.

How about an old swingset?????

Don't sell out to the Hopeless Depot, dumpster dive.

BTW, I dig the water pipe insulation padding.

ok maybe in the mid-west plain states but in the hills and hollars an over rocks it tends to be a good idea or else gravity can take its toll on the situation
ex: losing ATF
