Gap after replacing axle shaft

Heres the "gap" its about 1/4" from where it used to be before I pulled the axle

All I did was replace the u-joint, put on new rotors and pads... averything is torqued to spec. It rides alright, I juist feel uneasy knowing somthing is wrong.

btw here is the old toasted u-joint, the needle bearings were just about solid rust- ouch

That gap is just the plastic dust cover. Just push it back into position.
 
No the axle shaft itself is shifted. You cant tell from the pic (phone) but it is cleary visible on the shaft as to where it was before in relation to the outer plastic seal- also I can tell a difference when comparing it to the driverside.
