Whats is the difference betweeen an 87-90 4.0 Borla header and the one that fits on a 92 4.0?

Will it work?

Don't think it will work Ted. The big diff is the EGR set up on the 90 and older XJ's

EGR? Do the ports and bolts line up?

... and the exhaust ports on the HO head are higher --- get the two gaskets and compare...

if its an open port i can weld it closed or seal it somehow.

The header is pretty much new and only $175......i dont want to pass it up

I replaced my bad exhaust a while ago with one from Borla. They sent two gaskets and an EGR adoptor in the box. I used the exhaust gasket that best fit my engine and omitted the EGR adoptor. My guess is that the header will bolt up.

Cool... Do you know the part # of the header you have?

The early borla will bolt on (eX ports are in same location) and it has the EGR heat tube bung. (not needed with HO) Just cut the heat tube at the fitting and use a 3/8" dorman plug in the tube - no welding and can be easily removed.

Anyone know why there isn't one for the 99 xj? or if I can just bolt on the 97 version. I guess there is some sensor, O2 I am guessing, that is on the 99-02 version. Don't see why it wont' work just have the check engine light on all the time :)

Would be real easy to weld in a bung for the 02 sensor...

okay, just don't wanna throw down the cheddar and find out it doesn't fit.
