Gauge cluster swap ?

hey, I went to the junk yard yesterday and picked up a guage cluster for $16.00 from an '85 xj that I think had 2.1L diesel, but the engine was gone. I swaped the cluster and everything works exept the temp and oil guages. I need to change the sensors to make the guages work, will the sensors from a 2.5L work? There were several in the yard with real guages (all the 4.0L had idiot lights). Also are the gears different in the axles from the smaller engines? My speedo seems slighlty off?

From all I have read here the major issue seems to be the type of spedo drive you have, older ones used mechanical, newer use an electrical sender but you say it works. Oil and temp senders I understand do need to be replaced.

I forgot to mention I have an '89 so there was no conflict with speedo connection, I dont think they switched to the electric sending unit until '91.
