High setting on wipers won't work

I have a 99 xj and when I switch my wipers onto the highest setting my wipers just stop. they will stay in the same location until my I drop back a notch and then they continue to work fine. can anyone help me out?

I'm having the same problem on my 98. Any ideas for a solution?

New wiper switch?

Sounds like the "park" mechanism and switch inside the wiper motor transmission is gunked up. This has been reported as a problem in the past.

Possible solutions:
1. obtain new motor assy from the junkyard
2. remove existing motor assy, open motor transmission and clean thoroughly, then regrease and reinstall.

Ditto on the motor. Even if the stalk switch is hosed, it should always return to park.
