View Full Version : NAC-Fest 05 Trails & reg++++good news!!!

ROCKREADYXJ

As you all know NAC-Fest is comming. I need to get an Idea of who is running what trails. I would like to make an itinerary of each day. So that each trail leader has a set list of trail to hit for the day. this will free up alot of which trail do we go to next and so on. I think everyones had those 1 hour conversations before as to wich trail to go to next. I would like to save alot of that time and replace it with wheeling.
Now even if you have not pre registered I would like to get this information If you could all break it down per day. I know it requires some typing but it will save some time come nac fest.

Now the good news. I have worked out with paragon that on the days we have 76 and up trucks the rate drops to $20 per day + $5 per guest. Everyone please remember to bring your membership cards to present at registration. No card no discount. If your card has been lost or stolen contact Skorpio. I am working hard to try and save some cash for you guys. so lets try and make this the biggest Nac Fest in history.

As far as donations and door prizes I will let you guys know when they are in my hands. I have several lined up a couple of bigger dollar items and some small.

If anyone who is a member and would like to be a trail guide and has experience please feel free to contact me. shop #845-355-7625 you can talk to me or Pete. or a general e-mail to the info@trcoffroad.com

I know guy like to go with there buddies and do similar trails but this years we are going to limit it to the max 10 trucks per group. I will plan out trail with the trail leaders and set the trails. all you guys have to do is pick the group with the trails you like. As soon as I get enough response I will post some of the line ups. this will also help us keep track of where everyone is in the park and what time they will finish.

thank you

Hey, what did the membership card look like? I have my Paragon reg/safety cards, and I have the NAXJA sticker, but I can't remember what I did with the membership card.

I would want to run Thurs to Sat, and do high blues and black 1s with MAYBE a black 2 thrown in there for good measure. I dont know that I want to lose another exhaust system or side window this year, although since I am towing this time, it probably doesnt matter.

Have you seen mine lately???? just cut out the glass and put on some new tires and you are OK to go!! You have to beat on it untill it goes no more!! or in your case it runs out of gas on a rock.

sounds good to me. I'm gonna try my hardest to beable to make it again this year, gotta do some saving for diesel fuel tho, wow, have you priced that lately?

oh, and speeking of such, anyone in the MI/OH area that might want to share fuel and driving this year? meet me somewhere with your trailer ready to hook to the bus and were off like a prom dress.

fyi, for those in the NAC area that don't know, I'm not married any longer so bring any hot single women that want to wheel, I'll leave a seat open, and ummm, I have an open bed too. :kissyou:

I had so much fun last year, I'm thinking this will be my only NAXJA event this year so look out, I'm not going to be sleeping around the fire again, maybe.

Dan i guess we will have to hit up all the classy women, at the go go bar in hazelton. Right after we hit up the drive through beer store. Im sure we can find a chick and her aunt there, just like old times. but older. we can invite then back to our spa / campground pond with some bubbles in it.

Gee, NACFest could be real interesting this year, I may have to go.

(Hot women in Hazelton? THAT would be real hoot at the Wal-Mart)

And One-Ton MAY have to build something in order to play? Another shocker!

Joe, right now it looks like I'm only in for Thurs-Fri, and probably on upper blues or a black, but I can't be sure I can get up there, so I wouldn't want to commit as a trail leader again (Besides, it'd be nice just to be a participant for a change)

Lobstah - no diamondback steppin' this year. You'll have to find other entertainment.

if he comes, yes he would be doing the same stuff as me.. and he isnt any kind of "liability".... if ya know what i mean..

Andy in Pa.
April 20th, 2005, 07:12
Well, we hope you wouldn't be bringing someone you would consider a liability.

We absolutely welcome guests on these runs, and ALWAYS participate in some ribbing if the guest is driving anything but an XJ!!

But, very simply put, if we (as trail leaders) have problems with a guest on the trail (drinking, smoking pot, confrontations, that type of stuff, has to be a BIG problem) we will ask the NAXJA member who brought them as a guest to leave with the guest. That is the "responsibility" Joe was referring to. As well, the NAXJA member is expected to make sure their guest has everything needed to pass the tech inspection.

Hope this clears it up a little.

That day i lost the tire, the day a wheel bearing cought on fire and locked up the tire, and the day that i still have no idea how i broke a tie rod..... sucked ass. that was the worst day of wheeling of my life! but we did cut some pretty nasty trails. I loved driving my jeep on the street, the trailer thing sucks. just makes me wheel harder and break more things. im starting to think about throwing a steering box in it and putting 33s on it and driving it to paragon. then again 1 ton axles and 33s is about the same clearence as a wheel horse tractor, so ill stick to the trailer

oh yea andy ill let you borrow my trailer after we hit death valley. i think that we should attempt it this year. maby on saturday

Man, sounds like you guys took my trailer rant a little too seriously. If I had a trailer (and a truck to pull it with) I would be using one too, it sucks heading for home after wheeling all day and listening for those "new noises" as your rolling down the road at 60. I'll have a trailer too one of these days. Then I'll be a pansey like the rest of ya.

Hmmm...Death Valley, I could be coaxed. I have walked it a few times, and I would say for "pucker" factor Pitfall has it all over DV. Let just say I think it took Mitch a week to get the grip marks out of his drivers seat!! I will at least spot DV and winch you gents out at the far end (if needed).

Yeah Pete, that was one of the more bizarre tie rod breaks I have ever seen. That thing just sheared right off.

From the looks of that boat I think you might have other priorities anyway. The lake is a little more relaxing than a trail I bet. You getting ready for retirement already?

Yeah Mark, I suppose that diesel Sub is JUST to tow the boat....

Now its "come on, 35's?? All the cool people are running 38's now." I'll be running my 35's til their bald. Hopefully they'll be spun by 9" front and rear axles by the end of this year, but they'll still be the same 35's.

Hope you haven't finished the list yet -

I'm figuring at the moment on coming up for the 9th, 10th, and 11th, and am interested in doing greens and whatever blues I can manage without body damage with 225s and an OME 2" kit on a (former) stocker.

I may revise that later, though, depending on conditions.

Now to start hunting the hotels in the area (camping isn't my thing).

You're already on the downhill side of the Big Meats Bell Curve, John. You reach a certain point when you realize that big tires make most of the trails no fun anymore and you're just tearing the shit outta your rig to spin the big stuff. You eventually come to your senses and drop back down in tire size and its all fun again.

I still have to wheel the 35's I have before I can downsize. I didn't get rid of my 32's yet for precisely that reason. Its what all the cool kids are doing.

Caleb- You might be onto something... one of my recent thoughts is to finish the green machine, sell it, and get one of those new-fangled diesel outboard jets for the boat.

Andy- You figured me out. But I've always wanted a Sub since I was a little kid and moving cross-country was all the excuse I needed.

Hell my Dad has a trailer on KY lake and I get down there as much as I can in the summer. I try and take a week off just to get some peace from this D.C. crap. His sister has one next door so they throw some major BBQ's. Nothing beats it.

Are you still working on the 97 Mark? I thought you were done that a while ago and wheeling it now. Go ahead, wheel the 35's, come to the dark side....(*insert Darth Vader breathing here*) :wierd:

Well, the catch is you just have to find more difficult trails. Those trails that you wheeled with 32's did become easier with 35's, so its time to take the 35's and wheel trails where 38's are needed (with a D30 front axle *GASP*). Thats my (somewhat warped) reasoning and I'm sticking to it.

On the flip side, you keep building, realizing that your adrenaline pumps the best when you're doing obstacles that only a small handful of people will even attempt. All the while gaining skills at building and maintaining your junk, while those that don't think they have the ability(although everyone does) whimper and moan at the "BIG DOGS". Of course, I don't even have something that's wheelable right now, so what am I saying

Good guess but....nope. :laugh3:

Rig got taller as i got older, and it rode like an empty Tri-Axle running thru the Jersey Pines.

Decided on a different direction for the XJ, got another rig at the ready.

Reminder that all vehicles going to nacfest must pass Tec inspection for the park and the club. there will be no exceptions. Also any thing that is felt to be not safe for whatever reason may be denied by the park it is in their small writing part of that paper you sign at the park.

SO sad . . . but there's no chance I'll be ready and able to make this trip after all. I was working on wiring up some goodies under my console and when I reattached the negative battery cable - fzzzzzzztttt! Fried the wiring from the battery all the way back to one of my ARB switches in the console. Completely melted the insulation off the wiring and fused the switch solid. I'm just beginning to tear it all back apart to see where I shorted something. There's a lot of wiring to replace and downstream problems to sort out. After removing the offending wires, it wouldn't even click the starter, so I've got to track down that problem and any others that present themselves.
I KNEW there was a reason I hate wiring.
In any event . . . maybe next year.
:tear:
