valve adjustment

I am sure you guys have some good tips on doing a valve adjustment on a 1995 4.0. Newly replaced head gasket. 130,000 miles. I just feel a bit shakey on it and could use some tips.

Thank You

Yah - the valvetrain is self-adjusting. The closest we have to a valve adjustment is checking the torque on the rocker pivot bolts - I'd have to look up the figure tho.

Once you have everything dialed in and done, the usual cause for tappet noise is tappet failure of some sort (either "gone flat" or "gone solid.") Not much else causes trouble there.

does the 2.5 have the self adjusting as well? what are the tork specs on the rockers?

Yes, the 2.5l has hydraulic lifters as well.

Looking at my 95 FSM:
