Raising end of xj under difs...

Can I raise the end of my xj with a floor jack under the dif housing (at least in the rear evenly) without bending the tubes or causing some other cato-clysmic damage?

I didn't think so...

Anybody have a source for a pneumatic jack, cheap?

I do it every time...if it couldn't handle the abuse of a floor jack we'd be hopeless in the rocks! Check an auto parts store for the jack...don't get one that's too small...

no, those axle tubes are not meant to hold the weight of the jeep. what do you think the tires are mounted to the end of them or something....

the axle is the easiest place to jack it up by, but don't go under the jeep without it being on good jack stands.
Also, what you need is a hydraulic jack, not a pneumatic one......
