I need to replace my electric cooling fan in my'88 XJ, I have heard that a '97+ fan would be an upgrade. Is this a direct bolt-in? Wiring the same?
TIA

it will bolt in. Not sure of the wiring, but it,s only two wires ,how hard can that be?

I have yet to locate a '97+ in the bone yard. I will probably just go with the Auto Zone replacement

You can find them on Ebay new and they have swirl type blades rather than the square original blades - I beleive they started back in 93 or so, not 97 and they are a direct fit - just plug it in.

an imperial 12 inch fan from autozone sits on the XJ radiator almost perfectly. The shoroud will fit on the top caps of the rad, and almost all of the air pulled through th radiator core.

The dealer not longer sells the 88 square type because the new kind is totally interchangeable.
