Question about TPS

My sons jeep, 89 4.0 auto is stalling when you get on the throttle hard so we were trying to adjust the TPS but had no luck. My son then disconnected the 3 prong plug that is on the TPS( there is also a 4 prong Plug )and it made the motor run good. Can anyone tell me why it did this???????


He went out driving for about 10 minutes and it ran great.
