Used search, but still have a few questions. I will be looking at a 99, 5-speed, 2-door, 4.0 Sport tomorrow. Was 3.07 ratio still the only option for the 5-speed or did other ratios exist for 1999? And, was the AX-15 still used in 99 or had the NV been incorporated? Anything else I should be aware of, when checking the vehicle, relative to model year 99? Thanks, guys.

I believe, but am not 100% sure, that the NV3550 was introduced that year. It would have 3.07 axle gearing for sure.

3.07 axle ratio. AX-15. The NVG 3550 came in 2000

Just to be completely clear about this... Eagle is right. The NV3550 was introduced in 2000. That does not, however, mean that EVERY manual tranny XJ in 2000 had an NV3550. As with a lot of things, Jeep seems to have grabbed whatever was in the parts bin during the transition, and some 2000s came with the AX15 while some came with the NV3550. In fact, I have heard, but never confirmed, that even some 2001s came with AX15s in them.

Either way, 3.07 gears absolutely.
