87 to 91 engine swap

I just picked up a 91 cherokee with a blown motor for nothing. I also bought a 87 with a dana 44 rear for $200 and the motor runs great. Can I swap the engine block from the 87 and put the upper intake and head from the 91 on. Are they compatable with each other? I know that the 91 is a high output and the 87 isn't. What should I do?

IIRC, the blocks are the same. you just have to swap the 91' intake and throttle body.

But, why swap into the 91' when the 87' has the D44? True, it's not that much work to swap an axle, but....

I'm swapping the D44 out of the 87. The reason is the body of the 87 isn't in good shape. The 91 has no rust at all. Thanks for the help.
