stutters at speed?

when i get up to 55 mph plus, if i hold the throttle steady it stutters and when i put it in 3rd instaed of drive it gets worse. any ideas would be greatly appreciated. i have an 89 cherokee laredo 4.0 with an automatic

It sounds like the problem's the TPS. A lot has been written up about checking the TPS voltage on this forum so do a search to find out more.

I have the same problem and haven`t found it yet. I`ve replaced the TPS, MAP,CPS,IAC,O2 sensor and will be replacing CCV assemblies,EGR, plus cleaning the vavle cover this weekend . Good luck, I will be watching this thread closely.

When I had a similar problem at speed but it rode very well on the trail, and revved just fine it turned out to be the fuel filter... $15
When was yours replaced last?
