Got a Dana44 out of an old XJ Wagoneer Limited today for $150. Am going to put new brakes and drums on it. Thought I'd pull the axel shafts out and have alook at the bearings. Also plan to drain the oil and look over the inside as well. Any ideas an what to look for before I put it in my 87xj. The donar xj did not have a drive shaft and I know it is specific to the d44. The car I'm putting it in has OME springs and shocks. Anybody think I can get away with using my existing drive shaft. Thanks!

you'd have to stick it up there and measure it. You might check on a shaft from an xj with a 8.25. Not sure if the joint is the same, but I believe the shaft is shorter. Take a tape with ya and check it all out.
