Which coolant does a '94 Cherokee use?

Should be R12. There'll be a sticker on top of the a/c compressor.

The 94 FSM does come with a supplement for R134, though. May be a mid year switch. Check the compressor to be sure.

quickest way is to look at the fittings(high and low side) R12 fittings look like a regular looking "tire" valve type, 134a has snap on type fittings...basically you can only put 134a gauges on a 134a system and the same for r12.

its a split year. Some came with R-12 and other R-134. The sticker, provided it's still there, on the compressor will tell you...

Yeah, you beat me to it. I just called a guy I know at my local Jeep dealer and he told me the same thing.

I believe the build date determined the switch... after 1/1/94 got R134
