My oil pressure gauge stays a little over 40 under power, but at idle it drops to about 20 after about ten minutes running. Is this acceptable. I have a very small oil leak at my oil filter rings I just haven't gotten around to fixing it(could that be the cause of my problem? or am I just being jumpy?)

thats acceptable as long as it doesnt drop to zero, it may be slowly starting to fail though

What is failing? or did you mean to say falling?...........to zero preasure.

if the engine doesnt make any abnormal valve train noises, the oil pressure is probably ok. the sending unit may be starting to go bad

The factory spec for oil pressure, with a warm engine, is 13 psi minimum at 650 RPM idle, and 37 to 75 psi above 1600 RPM.

Sounds like you're in good shape.

Thank you very much eagle, that is the kind of info I was looking for, it does the sounding like a diesal engine thing and thanks to this forum I know thats normal for my 93, and now more great help, sounds like I was just being parranoid, Thanks a ton guys.
