Does anyone know how to shorten the height of the shifter? on an 2000 XJ W/ Automatic..
I want to lower it to get more useable center console space.and ,well Just because...
Im thinkin 3" or so, total height.and a cool aluminum Knob or something.....

Too bad it's an auto, B&M makes two shifters, one for the XJ and one for the TJ, 4" height difference between the two.
See if you can find one out of a boneyard and play with it. You might be able to take a piece out of the middle. Depends on how that push button revers button works.

Easy to shorten it, the aluminum knob would require some thought, machining or good scrounging. I'm sure there's something in a parts catalog or junkyard that would work great...finding it though can drive ya nuts.
