? on Axles

Is there a way to take a non vacuum disonnect axle shaft and put it into a vacuum disonnect axle? My brothers got 91XJ w/vacuum axle and it isnt working anymore, wants to know if he can do the above mentioned? Thanks Jeff CamoXJ

There is a kit available. its like 30 bucks or so. then youll need a one piece shaft. to install the kit youll need to pull the carrier out.
you can also do a poor mans conv...
pull the vacum housing apart. slid the collar over into the locked position. then push the shift fork over and put a tack weld on the shaft then put it back together... works great.
