Did a search....

I did a search and it didn't come up with anything. Is there a build code or any other ID #'s on the 4.0L H.O. head that you can tell what year its from. A friend of mine bought a 4.0L head to put on his CJ (4.0l head conversion) and we're trying to figure out what year its from. Thanks, I know this has been covered before, but I couldn't find any info from my search.

there is a 4-digit casting code right by the valve cover, near the middle of the hed when looking at it lengthwise. 2686 is pre-HO (87-90). 630/0630, 7119 or 7120 is HO (91-01). not too specific...

if you happen to still have access to the engine block, there is a build code stamped on it that gives the month & year that the engine was assembled.
