The Haynes Manual says:The four brakebacking plate nuts reaching by
the hole in the axle flange.......
If there isnt a hole in the flange does it mean I have got a C clip fixing in the diff?
Cherokee 92 with ABS.

Yes, you have a c-clip axle. It is much easier to replace the axle seals on the c-clip axle. You need to drain the diferential, remove the cross pin, lift out the c-clips, then pull the axles out of the axle tubes. Then just pry out the old seals, grease lightly and tap in the new ones. Reinstall axle shafts, fill with gear oil, done. It takes a while because its a messy job. 4xBob
