Memorial Day weekend: Canyon de Chelly

Handlebars

Canyon de Chelly is on the Navajo reservation in the 4 corners region of Arizona. It is a couple of deep canyons that contain some of the most spectacular pueblo ruins around. The canyons need 4 wheel drive to access and the only way you are permitted in is if you have a paid indian guide. I’m guessing that it will be about $200~300 for a small group to go and camp in one of the canyons and I’m looking for people to share the expense (and experience!) with. A coupla sites about the place:

It should be a memorable trip and something out of the ordinary. Have you seen any old westerns lately? Imagine you driving your Jeep through that landscape. Yes, it IS for real!

Been there done that, it was freakin' awesome. Took a bone stock mini blazer back in. We just did the half day deal. I don't remember how much it cost. Those canyons and the stories the guides tell are sweet.
