Which transfercase

I was looking at a 94 grand, 6 cyl, auto, and noticed it was a full time 4wheel drive. Could someone tell me what transfercase this is , plus is it possible to convert it to a parttime unit. Thanx Digger

chances are it's got the NP242 Select Trac with the 6cyl. does it look like this 2h,4 Full Time, 4H,N, 4L. Or it might have the 249 case. I don't know of anyone who makes parttime convert kit but 4xshaft.com might help.

The jeep only has 4hi and 4lo

Just got a phone call from the Jeep owner. His Wife was incorrect, the Grand has a v-8(318) not a 6.

It already has a part-time mode if it's a 242. 4H and 4L are both part-time.

Its not a 242. It only has 4hi and 4lo no spot at all for 2hi

thats probably the quadratrac 249 TC...

you should be able to swap a 242 or 231 in there as you coulf get ZJs with those cases.
