Fittin' 35's on only 6" of lift????

I have a 2001 XJ. Currently have a temp. 3" lift and 31's.
I'm going to cut the fenders as high as I can before the body seams.
I want to fit 35's on my next 6" Lift. I'm trying to avoid going 8", but if I have to I have too. Just looking for some of your experiences or problems.
Also, so I don't waste another thread. What springs you running if your at 8" of lift. See ya, Brannon

you can absolutely run 35s on 6"s, that's the height I, and I think most on this board, would recommend.

Since it's a 2001, I'm gonna assume you want to keep it looking pretty decent, get some Bushwacker cutout flares for it, and extend the bumpstops a little bit and you're good to go.

There are MANY other issues in going from 3" to 6" as well as going from 31s to 35s, I hope you are aware. This is going to cost you several thousand dollars to do it right, unless you have fabrication skills and like junkyard parts.

Yeap!

Going Rusty flares and I know about the $$$$, thats why I threw the temp. lift on. I myself think 6" is the perfect lift for an XJ, but I need 35's....
Thanks for the info, keep em' coming...

Rock rod i hope ya dont plan on playin in the rocks with the rustys flares. they dont take kindly to contact with anything. i had to trim my rustys flares to fit my 33s i would recomend TJ flares. they dont stick out as much as bush wakers and i think if you use 4 rear ones it looks super clean its what i did with mine. im runnin 5.5 front and 6.5-7 in rear and have trimed quite a bit and could fit 35s no prob. btw mines a 98

I forgot, you said four "rear flares" Do you have a pic of that?? LOL

Thanks COXJ

Appreciate the help without the a-hole remarks some people offer.
Any recommendations on where to get some... I've posted on some 4x4 sites in the wanted section and emailed some Ebay dealers to see if they would sell four rears... Thanks again

best place to find them is on a TJ web page pople take them off and replace them farily regulary. look for about $25 each it took me about a month to find 4 rears and it does matter left to right on them also.

WIll

So do I need two Driver side rear flares and two Passenger side flares??
Also, do I use stock mounting hardware, or use the money at the hardware store since I need L brackets and I'm sure other hardware????
Thanks Again, Brannon :peace:

I understand you're new to this site, but if you're refering to Cheapxj and his 3" lift w/36's remark, then you may feel a little embarassed when you see this:

The above link is where he explains how he did it.

Crazy? Yes, but do-able. :smoker:

The best way I found to mount the TJ flairs is to use 1/4 - 20 bolts with big fender washers. I put the washers on the in side of the sheet metal so if the flair gets hung it will just pull the flier off with very little damage to the jeep. I have yet to rip mine off and its amazing how much abuse the flairs can take.

I was not reffering to anybody on this site...

 Whoops! My bad!! Sorry for my misunderstanding. Most people would not believe that you can do what he did without first seeing his setup.
