cv driveshaft question

Going to put the hack'n'tap sye on my 98 w/ the 242. I read somewhere that the front driveshaft from a TJ will work as a rear driveshaft, just needs to be shortened, anyone ever tried this? Would likely be cheaper than having one custom made. Thanks

Don't know about 242, but I just put my AA HD SYE in and put a front DS in the rear for the time I'm waiting on local guys to finish my HD DS. I'm running a '94 with auto and 231.
