Anyone ever break the accelerator cable? Mine broke today going over a railroad track- it appears to have rusted off at the cable clasp that fits to the accelerator lever assembly. Scared the heck out of me when the peddle fell to the floor!

Any suggestions on keeping this from breaking and rusting again?

Thanks

So no one has ever had this problem???

It cost me $44 to get a new accelerator cable from the dealership- It was around
$22 for the part
$22 for overnight shipping...wonderful.
installing the part without being charged for labor- PRICELESS

My suggestions-
1. The space is small and hard to get the ball clasp on the throttle assembly level- I had to use my left hand while basically laying atop the engine. I was nervous of using my right hand and tools because it is very near brake lines coming off the master cylinder.

2. Grease- my clasp was pre-greased from the OEM.
