Chopped XJs

it can't be done, once you cut the back off all structure is lost and the jeep folds like a taco. No amount of reinfoircment or tubing can correct the situation. Any pictures you see on the web are fabrications and talented photochops.

come awn den, ya jerk!

post your pics!

oldmopars, this is not meant to be one of those smart-assy things but....

try a search. I think if you try just the word "chop" you'll probably get a good round of threads.....

lots of choppin going on on this board!

owners to look out for:

BOrton
Goatman
PaulS
Den
Wrinkley-Dinkley

I'm sure I'm forgetting a few, One Ton certainly doesn't count! there's nothing left!

count on building a cage. Paul S wil probably disagree with me, but I think a cage (as a reinforcement device) should almost be considered REQUIRED for choptopped unibodies.

Well.....look here.

As Beezil said....you MUST reinforce. I used a custom top to enclose mine and have to say that it works very well...even warmer that the steel top was after i pulled out the headliner.

Feel free to PM me with questions.

Mark Hinkley,
I love those pictures, That is what my plans are. Do you have any more pictures of the bed?
How did you tie into the frame rails and the cab?

Thank to all for the pictures.

Does anyone know if ORGS has finished theirs?

Last I heard the guy at ORGS forgot to weld something:confused:

Sorry, I am new here and did not know that ORGS and Mark Hinkley were connected.
BTW I love the way the truck looks.
Does the bed/roll bar give structual support, or is the rear frame OK with out it?
I am real interested in making it safe while still allowing the bed area to be functional for light hauling.
