XJ wagoneer vs. cherokee tailight wiring

wagoneers combine the stop/turn on each side in the rear, cherokees do not. I know that the only difference between the two is the short piece of harness that goes to each tailight.

does anyone know what exactly the difference is, and if I could have a stop-turn-tail for the back and a side marker light that is just a turn signal without rewiring the entire rear end of the Jeep?

If I remember - the wagoneer has 4 bulbs and the cherokee only 3 - the wag lens works on the Cherokee; but you can't use the chero on the Wag. I beleive I swapped the harness (kept the Cherokee - when I put the Wag lenses on.

Not so sure on that.....

My 84 had 5 bulbs and the 94 harness I got has 4.
