What does this mean?

FWIW I know for certain that I had an AC clutch replaced several years ago. Unfortunately, I can't remember which vehicle that was.

My SD508 pump's clutch was like $110 at Checkers -- you can rent/borrow the tool to get it on/off... not really that traumatic...

Check your wiring first (could be a short in the leads before they get to the clutch - the older XJs had a in-l;ine barrel connector for the clutch - about 7" away fromthe clutch that shorted to the body all the time...)

You might also try a BIG hot lead direct to the compressor from the battery just long enough to see if the compressor will turn, or if its locked up. It would be a shame to spend $110 for a new compressor clutch and have it do the same thing.
