Turn Signal/Brights Acting weird/annoying...

I recently purchased a 2000 XJ and it recently came up with a small irksome issue.

When you turn the turn signal either right or left, the brights will come on. Almost as if the switch has slop.

Has anyone encountered this, is it as "simple" as replacing the handle/switch?
 
Failure of the 97-01 turn signal/multi-function switch is somewhat common. Inspect for melted or damaged wires on the wire harness and consider buying a new one.

A new harness, correct?
 
A new turn signal/multi-function switch assembly.

Is there a good write up or Youtube video of changing the multi-function switch? It seems like it could be a b!tch.
 
The job is pretty simple and should take about 20 minutes.
 
That was a great write up! Took me 1 hour, the most difficult part was getting the plastic to fit back together correctly...
