What deg F thermostat for a '96 XJ 4.0?

Just changed out my thermostat and the highest degF Oreileys had listed for my motor was a 195F. So I put that one in but my temp doesn't get as high as it used to. With the old thermo my temp needle would get up to just above the half way mark at 210 then cycle back down. Now It looks like its getting to about where the thermo says, 195. No surprise I guess.

I've heard these 4.0 motors like to run around 205-210F. Should I take this thermostat back and get one with a little higher temp.

195 is factory. Just because your engine may run warmer. A higher or lower temp stat is not recommended. 195 is when it opens to let the coolant flow and cool down.

Good to know. Sounds like now I'm more in the range of where I need to be.
