So I towed my Carolina Skiff with my new to me 1997 XJ yesterday and the rear leafs are shot, it was sitting really low and the boat isn't that heavy. What are some good replacement springs for towing? Thanks guys.

Don't order those yet.

There are better brands out there. I'll look around later today.

Dormon 929-301.

Available here for $85, have to see what freight is:

Here it is 101 shipped with Amazon Prime.

http://www.amazon.com/Dorman-929-301-Leaf-Spring-Cherokee/dp/B005VPS358

The Dorman are not listed as "HD", but they are rated at 745 pounds, vs 750 for Crown's "HD".

Dorman makes better products than crown, but at the end of the day, they are probably all the same spring from the same plant in India.

Just from reading the reviews it seems those Dorman springs squeak a lot. Might be the bushings they provide?

Yeah I can't really speak to that. If it were me, I'd watch naxja and craigslist for someone who's doing a lift and get their stock take-offs, then add 1 extra long leaf from your existing pack to them to help with the load from towing.

But then, we have a lot more lifted jeeps in this part of the country with a lot less rust on them.

So would I do better going to the JY and pulling some leafs and adding a single leaf from my current pack and call it a day. Way cheaper as well.

Its certainly worth trying.

get the main leafs from another pack, and cut them to be the full length of your existing pack, without any wrap around on either end, then add them between the main and 1st leaf.

I got all my OME leafs through Quadratec, even if it's not on their website they can get the full line of OME products so if you've got a part number, just call/email them and they should be able to take care of you.

If you have a budget you should look into OME

You can get an inch or two to help clear some 29" tires, coil spacers in the front will level it up, and you won't need to do much more for just that little

I curently run:
Rear
Crown Automotive 4886186AA Leaf Spring Assembly; For Use w/LT/ZGW/ZVW
Daystar 1" lift shackle greaseable
Front
Moog Coil Springs: Variable Rate
Part No. CC782
Rukse Jeep Cherokee XJ Wrangler TJ Grand ZJ Poly Black Iso or 5/8" Lift Spacer added to stock isolator
Shocks Monroe HD (Police Package) shocks on all 4 corners.
I run a 235/75 15" tire (29") B F Goodridge Rugged Terain TA and has room for a 30" tire no problem.
The rear sits a little bit higher than the front, been in there for over a year now.Which would more than likely sit level with a low wieght tailer, take into consideration tounge wieght.I could get a pic later of how it sits to give you an idea.

I had crown rubber, but they went bad,dry rotted, after 6 moths!!! So I went poly no noise if greased properly.Mine do not make a peep.

I have a set of stock rear leaf springs you can have. I took them out a couple of months ago.

I also have long shackles. Make me an offer on those.

I'm in South Orange County.

Last summer I bought Dorman 929-301 from Amazon for my 01 XJ. Amazon packed them in boxes and they came with good paint. I sprayed some more paint on them just in case. Last I looked they are still rust free. They are Made in Columbia. They have never squeaked and the bushings are still fine. Before the springs I was at 18" front and 16.5" rear. After, 18" all around. I am not sure why others have problems with squeaks. For maintaining a stock ride I recommend them. I do prefer driving my 97 XJ with a 2.5-3" OME lift.
