Isuzu Turbo Diesel Conversion

Very Interested in Possibly Replacing my 4.0 w/ a Diesel.
I have Heard that a 4cyl. Isuzu Turbo Diesel Will Drop right in
w/ the Appropriate Wiring Harness & Motor Mounts.
Has anyone Done Anything Like This?
I Know that Overseas the XJ Is Available w/ a Diesel & have Heard that it Is an Isuzu Motor.
Just Wondering If this Is True & If So What Motor?
Any Info Greatly Appreciated.

XJ's were once fitted with the French Renault or the Italian WM diesels from the factory. I have not heard of the Isuzu engine in an XJ. However, many have successfully transplanted various manufactures diesel engines into XJ's. Do the Isuzu transplant and keep us informed.

I had a Mitsubishi turdo diesel in a RAM D50 (mini pick up) in the late 80's. It blew head gaskets and warped the head twice. Great mileage and good torque but at $2K per head replacement (1987 dollars) I could not afford it. Hopefully the motor you have in mind was totally re-engineered.
