whats is the piston ring end gap spec?

I have .045...all the piston skirts are scuffed.
I believe its a stock bore there are no numbers on the pistons indicating overbore....
theory is that the p.o ran it with a bad coolant temp sensor and the extra fuel washed down the cylinder walls and diluted the oil causing rapid ring and bearing wear.
 
According to the xj service manual, it states Ring number 1 and 2 should have a gap of .010"-.020" and ring number 3 should have a gap of .010"-.025"
