wj brakes swap question regarding axle alignment

I have it all bolted up to my early 99 xj. I installed hubs for a 2000 xj. The knuckles have the jks spacer welded on.

Question: When the knuckle is rotated left or right, the axle shaft moves slightly fore and aft. Maybe 1/4".
Is this movement normal, or should the ujoint be in perfect plane as the upper and lower ball joints?

Is the outer shafts pulled all the way out? I am pretty sure mine did exactly that, but once everything was all bolted up with tires and steering I think it was fine.
