ID green plastic thingie from inside console

2001 Cherokee, NP242, I6, red, etc, etc.

So I was engaging the 4WD into full-time a couple days ago and thought I noticed something moving around down along the base of the lever handle in the console. So I pulled the cover off and found this:



I've looked for pics of the exploded view of this area but cant find one that ID's what this piece is. I imagine the notch goes around the lever and it acts as a spacer? But I want to make sure I reinstall correctly. Anyone out there know what it is or could someone pull the cover off the 4WD lever of a 242 and snap a pic so I could see how to reinstall?

I would imagine its the shift indicator. I will see if mine has one when i get a chance.
