i just did a engine swap on my 2000 cherokee 4.0 and there is a wire/ sensor thing it flat looks like it bolts in but not sure it nearthe dipstick has 2 wires going to it

If you're talking about near the ENGINE oil dipstick instead of near the TRANSMISSION oil dipstick, perhaps what you are looking at is the camshaft position sensor connector. It goes on that thing that is where the distributor would be if you had one (you don't because the 2000 has a coil rail).

Sounds like the Coil Capactor to me.

Like McQue said, that's the ignition coil capacitor. It bolts to the right side of the block near the oil dipstick tube.

There is a stud in front of the dipstick that is on the bottom of the head that it bolts to.

the stud is bigger then the hole is why i never tryied there

Take the stud/bolt off your old head and use that.
