So I swapped a 97 ax15/231 in for my old aw4/231 in my 92 4.0 and after more and more research I am finding it pretty difficult to get my speedo to work. My old (92) 231 had a speedo unit with just two wires coming out of the unit and now the (97) 231 has 3 wires coming out of the unit. Does anyone know if I can put a older style, long shaft speedo gear unit in the 97 tcase so I can keep the plug original?
From what I have read online is the plug with 3 wires has power running through it and the old 2 wire plug was just measured with resistance.
Any ideas?
