popping in 4lo under loag doing straight

89 xj dana 30 aussie locker,chromos and 231. hit a set of whoops by accident came down on front tires in 4lo uner accelleration. Now it makes a popping noise from the front end under load in a straight line. quiet when turning under load. what ye all think? t case chain or aussie problem ?seems to drive fine. still turning tge wheels

put your finger up the 231's bunghole and check if there's tension on the chain, or unhook the front driveshaft and see how far it will rotate with the case in 4x4 and the rear held still.

or open up the diff and look at the aussie.

Most likely an issue with the aussie or the front carrier. I would almost bet you cracked the carrier.

Thanks for your quick replies. ill plan on pulling the front diff. and checking the chain quickly while im at it.

Really could be either.. I've had 2 chains stretch.. Its a loud, quick rotational *POP*

What would make it go away when turning? Was turning around and pulling out in deep snow. thete was no popping straighten out and put a little load uphill and yess rotational popping. would go away also if i eased up
