Using shims backwards?

I'm guessing it is but I want to make sure that its ok to use rear shims backwards. My axle is at 14 degrees and my pinion is at 18 degrees so I want to lower my pinion 6 degrees.

You have to buy a special "reverse shim". It looks just like a standard shim, except rotated 180 degrees on a vertical axis. They're usually about 4x the price of a standard shim, but i can get you a good deal on a pair if you're interested.
