transmision connector woes

I installed a 1999 xj engine and transmisiom into my 1997 xj but the transmision connectors are different. the connector on my 97 has 5 wires and the 99 has 7 wires. any help on how to connect the two????

You're screwed.

The VSS signaling changed in 1998. That trans will not working with your electronics. You either need the entire wiring harness and computer from the 99, or a 97 and older transmission.

Can you put your old trans back in with this engine?
