Cracked inner door sheet metal - Electric windows

Six months ago I took my driver's door open to investigate a banging noise when I closed the door. I discovered a crack in the inner sheet metal near the window motor, alowing the motor to swing when the door is opened and closed. I found a 1/16" thick 6" long steel bracket at the hardware store. I put this inside the door so it would not interfere with the inner door panel, then attached it with 4 machine screws and lots of JB weld. The fix seemed to be working. Today I heard that familiar banging noise when I shut the door. I wanted to get some ideas before I take the door apart again.

Has anybody here seen this problem, and if so, What did you do to fix yours?
