What could it be

My 1995 jeep has begun to buck, sort of like a miss above 45. My wife said it occured above 65 for her and said the tach went to zero then came back. It has occurred once for me and 5 times for her on a 200+ mile drive she was on today. It idles fine. Any ideas?

I would check the wires at the ignition switch in the column.

Remove the plastic cover on the bottom of the steering column, multi wire connector is on the right hand side.

Look for any sign of heat damaged insulation on the wires.

Mine was exactly the same - and i could make it cut out if I bumped the column with my knee while driving. Symptom included the spedo/tach going out for a second.

I found some dicey wire ends - I cut and recrimped in the connector and it's been perfect ever since.

Then test the Throttle Position Sensor and inspect the wires for damage.
