I have a 2001 XJ with a driver side power window that clicks as it presses against the top of the window frame. From what I have read this is an issue related to the teeth on the bracket that travels along the worm drive but mine is metal and perm attached thus it cant move and dosent. While the motor was out it was apparent that the sound was coming directly from the motor. I took apart the motor the best I could and could see nothing that would cause this. All the gears had good teeth along with the motors screw thing. The only thing I couldent get to was the gear (I guess) behind the bent metal covering on the opposite side of the worm drive.

Anyone been able to fix something like this without buying a new motor? Anyone know what it is causing the noise?
