Boulder County's Lefthand Canyon recreation area off-limits this weekend for fire cleanup

Officials with the U.S. Forest Service said Friday that they will keep the popular off-highway vehicle and target-shooting area in Lefthand Canyon closed to the public this weekend while crews continue to extinguish a small fire that broke out Thursday.
Firefighters contained the 2-acre fire in a few hours.
The cleanup effort continued Friday as firefighters faced steep terrain, rolling rocks from above and the "unnerving" sounds of leftover ammunition exploding in the blaze.
