Distributor shaft question

Everything seems to run fine, but when i was checking things for a tune up, i noticed that the shaft has a fair amount of side to side movement, but since it only has a sensor didnt know if this mattered. Or is the standard little to none for movement regardless and in that case I will replace it etc. Thank you.

I just replaced mine...only because it was making a hellacious noise. I've never really checked the side to side play.

mine had some play as well, it busted the bracket shortly after waiting on new one right now

i just put my new one in, it was pretty tight almost zero play side to side. i could move my old one about 3/8" or so. dont know if thats why it busted but it sure wasnt helping matters.

Dealer cost on these is pretty high....RockAuto carries them as a "camshaft synchronizer" for 32 bucks.

1. Side to side play is a NO-NO.

2. When in doubt, see number 1 above.

3. A little up/down movement is Ok.
